Halloween is my one of My Favorite Holidays...actually it is my favorite Holiday (sorry Christmas)...and this is one of the many patterns I am considering making for the holiday...but I don't think I will be able to finish it for this Halloween but it is a project I want start considering...for the next month!!!!
I am thinking of making it in the traditional colors of red and black or I could get a little creative and do it in purple and blood red...I am still thinking...but I am excited!!!!
I will post more about the season later....I have my eye on a necklace that would go great with the costume...YAY!!!

My latest dress craze!!!
I don’t know if it has anything to do with the fact that I am getting older or just because I want to change my look…but ever since last year….I have developed an appreciation for dresses...but my body type which is an upside down triangle doesn’t permit me to get away with too much…when it comes to dress…especially pencil skirts…but I could always improvise;)

DRESS UPDATE!!!!
So I just finished cutting out the gore section to the skirt and top....I stitched most of the top together .... I still have so much more to do like the sleeves, collar and belt ...by the time I was done doing the basics I was flustered I had to re-stitch most of the top because I stitched on 5/8 instead of 1/2 an inch.... and then the sewing machine had the nerve to get fussy with me.... I had to keep re-threading the darn thing...so here are my results thus far.......
So here it is my top...I have to apologize for the fuzzy pic...I was trying to take the photo without the flash...but it came out hazy...sorry... I think it looks kind of short but I have to put it together to see how everything fits....it took me about five hours just to get to this point...I kept reading and re-reading the instructions...plus on top of that I had to add inches on the pattern pieces because obviously there size 24 and my size 22 are totally different...I hate having to do the math...but I did it
Okay as you notice my homemade duct tape dress form is crooked there is an explanation for that my little sister is a dunce and ......
This is the front....You will notice that I only put facing on one side...becuase I got lazy...I should of ironed it...and I forgot to take out my basting ...as you can see this is going to be a long project...but it will be done...
And this is the back....
So in the end I have to say it has been an experience that I hope will get better in time. More updates on my other projects, and sewing adventures

Sewing Books...
Well the other day I went to the library to check out some sewing books...and picked out FABRIC SAVVY by Sandra Betzina....I got it because I saw a video clip from domestic haven blog and I wanted to see for myself how informative this book really was....boy was it detailed...I have to tell you this book is extremly informative...it tells you detail use of the fabric it's pro's and con's...what it can be best used for...how to manage it...what needle and thread to use ....and on and on and on...My god!!!
As a novice sewer I was extremely overwhelmed...when I buy my fabrics I have to look on the reciept to know what I actually bought....All I do is oooh it's so pretty I will buy...but now I know to be a lot more attentive as to what I am buying...There is an actual science behind all of this...Who Knew???
Anyway, I am working on my dress and will have more updates within this weekend...
P.S. A special thanks to all of those who commented on my progress it is very much appreciated believe me it helps to know people are out there...for a moment there I thought I was typing to myself...lol
See you

A Tribute to My Girls.....
A little while ago I heard Estelle Getty a.k.a (Sophia Patrillo) has died today at her home. I can't help but be upset , I was a loyal fan ever since I was eight and even though it was inevitable it still hurts...I can remember laughing, and at times being a little tearful especially during the final show...and most of the time being a little confussed because some of the jokes I didn't understand (like the episode when they were shopping for their cruise vacation and the subject of protection came up) ... I remember asking my mother what does condom mean?...she answered me...but I still couldn't make out what it was...Anyway...thank you Estelle for being part of my childhood...because of you and your cast mates I have so many fond memories...and I will always have your show to bring them back...

Simplicity Dress Project....
When I first saw this fabric I knew immediately what I wanted to do with it...it was absolutely beautiful and I wanted to make something special with it...so I decided to make my first dress with it...
Last night while watching Golden Girls I finally baste my skirt from the Simplicity pattern 2981 it wasn't all that difficult after all but unfortunately while I was trying it on my dress form some of the material unraveled and some of the stitching got loose which forced me to pin some of the garment pieces together..
.
which in the end up looking like this...
When I put the skirt portion on me it end up looking like this.....
I guess in the end I will be cutting a couple of inches of the bottom since I want my dress to be cocktail length...I have to say I am a little concerned of how easily this fabric can unravel I guess I am going to have to use a Serging machine to help rectify the problem..
